Supporting UNH Members

One of the key elements of UNH's mission is to strengthen its member organizations. Shaped by experience and feedback from its members, the UNH Member Services Department helps members build their internal capacity through professional development opportunities for agency staff and capacity building activities.

UNH is one of the few membership organizations in the human services sector to have standards for new and continued membership. Teams of UNH Board members, member Executive and Associate Directors and UNH staff, conduct regular assessments against these standards. This has helped UNH develop strategies that respond to members' needs.

UNH regularly convenes groups of agency staff who meet to share best practices in areas such as finance, technology and fundraising.

UNH scholarship programs provide tuition assistance and special grants to recognize emerging leaders in member agencies. In addition, UNH makes it possible for staff of member organizations to attend a customized professional development program at Columbia's Institute for Not-for-Profit Management.
